David Paich, the keyboardist, was a regular session musician for artists such as the Eagles, Larry Carlton and Quincy Jones.
In the years following Toto's debut album, the group struggled to find a successful sound and went through numerous changes of members. In the end, Hungate left the band in 1980 to pursue a solo career in Nashville. He left the band due to a lack of time for his family, and an increasing addiction problem. In the end, the success of the band was largely dependent on the talents of Lukather and keyboardist Steve Porcaro.
